Ampol Pheasants Nest
Retail builder Mainbrace revamps dual service stations
At Pheasants Nest in the Macarthur region, Mainbrace collaborated with Ampol on a retail construction project to transform dual service stations, catering to motorists and locals on either side of the major arterial Hume Motorway.
Both the Northbound and Southbound centres are now open, operational and almost identical. They feature sleek and modern facilities catering to truckers and the public, with new amenities, plenty of dining options, convenience and fuel facilities, kids playland with digital interactions, and infrastructure upgrades to enhance overall functionality.
Additionally, both integrate eco-friendly initiatives including three ultrafast electric vehicle charging stations (the first of their kind in Australia) overlaid with solar canopies, battery storage, as well as extensive rooftop solar systems on the main buildings which feed into the centres.
The job required the ground remediation of approximately 40,000sqm and careful staging around the sewer network to keep the existing centres operational through construction. A staged approach will also apply to the future parking facilities, as we safely work through further ground remediation works.
Our focus is now on the decommissioning and demolition of the former service stations and canopies on both sides. From there, in parallel, we’ll decommission the fuel lines, remove the old tanks, and remediate the ground as necessary before earthworks, new pavements and landscaping can get underway for each side to accommodate more car and truck parking.
As Australia’s leading retail builder, we are focused on growing our retail construction pipeline in the fuel sector and the Ampol Pheasants Nest project will hold us in good stead. It’s certainly challenging but also rewarding, and we congratulate our Northbound and Southbound teams on creating such quality assets for Ampol and the community at large.
