Case Study – JL Transport
With well over 30 years in the freighter industry, JL Transport is a growing family-owned company in Victoria. At Nexus Industrial (the Salta Properties Industrial Estate in Dandenong South), Mainbrace delivered a new purpose-built office and warehouse facility to accommodate JL Transport’s expansion and, in the process, enabled our team of industrial builders to expand our own credentials in the logistics construction space.
Complete industrial building capabilities
Work on site commenced in March 2022, in the middle of a challenging time for the building sector. Issues included wet weather impacting projects across the country, COVID and the shortage of tradespeople making procurement a challenge. Significant supply chain pressures were exacerbated by various macroeconomic and geopolitical factors.
Mainbrace was able to overcome these numerous challenges by calling on its established relationships with contractors and project partners to ultimately hand over the completed facility in October 2022.
Purpose-built project
The JL Transport project was a Design and Construct contract valued at approximately c.$5M. It included a warehouse component covering approximately 4,500sqm as well as associated office facilities for the company’s growing team.
This purpose-built facility included multiple loading docks, a weighbridge, a workshop for JL Transport’s in-house mechanics, and other office and warehouse spaces.
A logical avenue for growth
Project Manager Nick Banfield led the team to deliver this important project for Mainbrace, one which helped cement our strategic expansion into the logistics sector.
It was also our second construction project for Salta Properties, following our delivery of an industrial facility at CitiWest Estate in Altona.
Through developing our experience of working in industrial environments and with major industrial estate owners, we have built upon and enhanced our capability to provide clients with a more comprehensive service. We have achieved this, in part, in recognition that the way they need to do business is changing too. Our collaborative approach is the key to our success.
