Coastrek 2023

Walk for healthy hearts

Mainbrace is proudly participating in Coastrek in 2023 and as our Queensland team prepares to hit the trail in July, our teams in NSW and Victoria have set the bar high – not only in terms of kilometres walked and adventures had, but also money raised.

This is the second year our NSW team has been involved, with 60 Mainbracers working together in four groups of 15 collectively covering over 2000km along Sydney’s beautiful beaches to raise much-needed funds for The Heart Foundation. Some tackled the 30km course while others took on the 60km challenge, but everyone played a valuable part in raising over $68,000 to eclipse last year’s mark.

Down south, 17 Mainbracers in our Victorian team (plus one ring-in from NSW) braved the cold, dark and damp conditions of the Mornington Peninsula to take part in Coastrek. The inland start for the 60km walk proved challenging, with the team negotiating pitch black conditions and wet, rugged bush tracks before encountering windy beachside and undulating bush obstacles. Throw in a slight detour after a map mishap, and there were some tired bodies which were joined in the afternoon by the 20km walkers. In all, the VIC team raised over $10,000 for The Heart Foundation.

Coastrek is a great way to enjoy the outdoors with our colleagues, and the wider Mainbrace family, while raising lots of money for a very worthwhile cause. Good luck to our Queensland team who are preparing to venture out on the sunshine coast soon.
