Mainbrace unveils Western Freight Management's new truck depot

In July, Mainbrace reached practical completion of a new truck depot for Western Freight Management in Bundamba. This project reinforced the importance of collaboration as Mainbrace worked alongside the client from the preliminary design phase all the way through to final handover.

Western Freight Management required a builder with the Industrial expertise to develop the preliminary design and simultaneously provide cost advice to ensure it would meet the budget. So, Mainbrace was engaged under an ECI contract.

Being able to clearly demonstrate how we’d approach the build, how we’d mitigate risk at every stage, and how we can provide cost certainty, we were successful in converting the construction contract.

The job involved the construction of a new industrial truck depot, two-storey offices, warehouse, truck wash, gatehouse, weighbridge and diesel refuelling tank. In all, about 300 workers were inducted on site and with zero lost-time injuries, the team’s safety performance was impeccable.

Mid-way through the 29-week program, the client requested a major design change. Mainbrace’s ability to adapt was critical to facilitate the change safely, with no impact the delivery schedule. In the end, the depot was completed on time and under budget for a happy client.

The Western Freight Management project not only adds to our growing portfolio in the industrial/ logistics sector, it also reinforces the importance of strong and collaborative relationships with our clients and project partners.
