NSW State Update
Projects underway across NSW
It’s never about just one project
Recently our Construction and Small Works teams delivered projects for HomeCo, Fabcot, Aeria, Barings, Coles, Woolworths, Dart West, Toll Group, Goodman, McDonald’s and Region Group. With some of these clients we’re onto our second project together. With others, we’re up in the hundreds.
Brought in early
More and more clients are bringing us in earlier in the life of a project. Some start with planning and authority requirements or a design challenge that needs resolving. Others are about how to stage work in a live environment or how to get more certainty on cost and programme before anyone commits to construction.
At Sydney Airport, we’ve been appointed to the contractor panel for its multibillion-dollar renewal programme, with two Early Contractor Involvement engagements already underway. They sit alongside the T2 Terminal and Security Upgrade we’re currently delivering.
Thirty sites and no two alike
While those opportunities take shape, 30 different projects are under construction or about to start across NSW.
The mix is wide. Sod was recently turned at Woolworths Austral North and Woolworths Belmont North. The Woolstore in Glebe is a heritage refurbishment with a business still operating inside. The T2 upgrade is happening in Australia’s busiest airport terminal, while our Fife Eastern Creek project is three new separate warehouses being built concurrently.
Supporting our community
A few years ago, our Head of Small Works, Dan Morelli, saw a television segment on Skin Check Champions and recognised some of the warning signs they described. He booked a check and it found a melanoma.
Watch his story here.
That story is behind Skin in the Game, which we recently launched as the newest initiative under MbRACE, our community programme tackling skin cancer awareness. Outdoor workers in Australia face more than double the skin cancer risk of those who work indoors, and construction is one of the trades most exposed.
With Skin Check Champions, we brought their Silver Bullet mobile skin check unit to three of our sites and carried out more than 150 skin checks for site teams and subcontractors who spend much of their working day in the sun.
