Sustainability Win at Woolworths Leppington

At Mainbrace, we’ve put a real focus on Sustainability. In particular looking at construction solutions and innovations to support our clients.

The team at our Woolworths Group, Leppington Town Centre project has recently worked with architects ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects on a solution to what started as a supply chain issue and has turned into so much more.

With the bricks for the project originally coming from Italy, supply chain constraints meant there would be a major delay, so a work-around was required. The team was able to source a recycled brick from a demolished house in Marrickville, Sydney.

The bricks were hand selected and will be cast into 14m tall precast panels to create the focal clocktower at Leppington Town Centre, a design element that will set the shopping centre apart.

This process saved enough carbon to offset 10 cars on the road for a year – an achievement everyone involved is super proud of.

We’re excited and energised to continue this innovative thinking on future projects.
