Celebrating 20 Years of Chris Coroneos
This year, we’re celebrating 20 years of Chris Coroneos with us, and there’s so much to celebrate with Chris!
He started with Mainbrace as a fresh-faced Contract Administrator back in 2004. Fast forward to today and he is a respected and much-loved Retail Construction Manager.
Chris’s brilliance has been pivotal in delivering some of our largest and most iconic projects. He especially shines in live retail environments. His exceptional ability to stage projects ensures uninterrupted trade, while optimising cost and time efficiency.
One standout example of his expertise was in 2014, when he was the Project Manager on our largest retail project (at the time): the major re-development of DFO Homebush, Sydney. The complex project included a new bulky goods retail level, ground level carpark and multi-storey carpark, and the refurbishment of the existing retail mall and tenancies. Despite the challenge of keeping the centre operational throughout the 37 stages of construction, Chris’s detailed staging program ensured everything ran smoothly.
In 2015, he began work on Narellan Town Centre, Sydney. This ambitious project extended the existing south centre northward, connecting it to a new four-story structure with a 38-meter-wide pedestrian link bridge with retail, spanning Camden Valley Way. Chris once again demonstrated his skill in maintaining business continuity during construction.
Next was the $200m retail refurbishment of David Jones Elizabeth Street, Sydney in 2018. Chris led the David Jones team diligently and with tremendous focus for the 770+ days we were on site – most of those days being open for trade. He ensured the safety of the people on site as well as the retailers and the public while we completely updated and refurbished this iconic building.
Most recently, in 2022, Chris has been guiding the team as Construction Manager on the Oran Park Podium retail construction project in Sydney. This expansive 16,650 m² retail space is transforming into a sub-regional shopping centre, becoming the focal point of an evolving new community within the Camden Council LGA.
Around Mainbrace, Chris is a larger-than-life character with an endless supply of energy and a contagious enthusiasm. He is motivated to be the best and encourages and supports his team to be their best.
Using Chris’s favourite word, we think he is truly EPIC.
Outside of Mainbrace, Chris is happiest surfing the waves of his beloved Northern Beaches or spending quality time with his wife and their two daughters.
We couldn’t be prouder of Chris and the amazing career he has built and continues to build with us. We are excited by what the next 20 years might bring!
